We tend to live in a bubble in communities that think like us but that doesn't exist anymore. I used to write a weekly column for the Arizona Republic and could speak my mind. these days, I would get death threats. That is one reason this site and writers like yourself are so important!
Well said. I found that my world shrank so much in 2015-2016, when then-candidate Trump revealed who he was to us all, and a huge chunk of the population in this country basically said, "I'm okay with that!"
As an aside, it shrank even more last October, when another huge chunk of the population revealed itself as haters of anything and everything Jewish/Israeli.
Its a disease, every person has flaws, too many people have this flaw. Being part of a cult may give you a feeling of security, of being correct, or superior.
What comfort could one gain from following the edicts of the MAGA party?
My thing is that there has to be something ethical that is missing in the old friend.
I have many Republican friends who cannot vote for Trump for many reason from his personal behavior to the destruction of our Democracy . He and the jihad will set this country way back in time.
We have to protect what we have accomplished in every facet of our democracy .
